Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child at Merri Creek Primary School. Choosing a school for your child is an important decision, and we are here to guide you through this process.
It is important to note that at Merri Creek Primary School, we do not accept enrolments beyond the next school year.
To determine if you are in the Merri Creek Primary School zone, please visit the Department approved website Find My School.
Families residing in the school zone are still required to submit an enrolment form, which will guarantee your child a place at our school.
For families that reside outside the school zone, your child’s enrolment form should still be submitted and will be considered if there are spaces available during class formation, which occurs in November.
We encourage all prospective families who are unfamiliar with our school with kindergarten-aged children who plan to start school the following year to register for a school tour.
Tours and presentations will take approximately 1 ½ hours and will commence from the school office located on Ida St, Fitzroy North.
Please complete the following enrolment forms, also attaching the required documentation. Enrolment documentation can be returned in person or emailed to email@example.com
End of June: Submit your child’s enrolment form with supporting documentation (evidence of birth, immunisation status and evidence of residence to the school office or via email firstname.lastname@example.org ).
During June/July: Families residing in the school zone will receive confirmation of enrolment upon receiving your child’s enrolment along with your Compass login which is our school communication platform. (Usually within the week following receiving the enrolment excluding school holidays). During October, communication will be sent outlining the Foundation/Prep
Mid September: Families not residing in the school zone will receive an email with confirmation of enrolment (offer/no offer) of a place at Merri Creek Primary School. If your child was offered a place, please reply to the email, either accepting or declining the offer within 5 business days of receiving the email. No response will be considered a decline to the offer of enrolment.
During October: Families residing outside the school zone who have accepted a place for their child will receive an email with your Compass login, which is our school communication platform outlining Foundation/Prep Transition program and dates.
All children enrolling at Merri Creek Primary will be involved in a transition program according to their age and year level. The purpose of the transition program is for students to start at Merri Creek Primary with minimum disruption and maximum support.
The Principal and/or Assistant Principal establishes which class the student will be allocated based on number of vacancies, student needs, gender balance, academic and social and emotional needs.
