The children will be in these sessions independently, while parents attend an optional parent session in our General Purpose room with the school leadership. More information will be provided closer to the transition times.
Foundation Student Free days – Term 1, 2025
The English Online Interview (EOI) and the Mathematics Online interview (MOI) are mandated for all Prep and Grade 1 students in Victorian government schools.
The EOI and MOI must be undertaken within a department-defined timeframe which is usually the first 6 weeks of school.
The EOI consists of a one-to-one interview between the teacher and student, which assesses students against the 3 modes of English (Reading and Viewing, Writing, and Speaking and Listening).
The MOI interview is also one-to-one between a teacher and student. The testing is in relation to growth points, which can be described as key "stepping stones" along paths to mathematical understanding.
Teachers record each student's responses directly onto the online system. This data is used to generate reports that provide teachers with an overview of student achievement and information to inform program planning and resource allocation.
To manage this in the school the Department allows student free days for Foundation student assessments for EOI and MOLI. Year 1 is usually managed through the school employing Casual Relief Teachers for a day for each Year 1 teacher to conduct the assessments.
The Department will release the dates sometime this term. Our school runs with a student free day on the first 6 weeks of school. This is usually in weeks 1-6 of Term 1 (Friday 31st January – Friday 7th March 2024).
Once the Department has released the timeframe, we will update parents on the dates for student free days.
