Merri Creek Primary School was established in 1891. It sits on the banks of the Merri Creek in inner urban North Fitzroy, on the boundary of three local governments – the City of Moreland, City of Darebin and the City of Yarra.

It is easily accessible by walking, riding, tram, train and car. The school is identified in the community by its galvanised iron gates, crest and letterbox all designed and produced by artist Alex Sanson.

The playground is shaded by beautiful, mature elm trees and provides the students with areas for a variety of recreational activities.

Upgrading of playground equipment occurs regularly, and the small oval and huge sandpit with decking are very popular.
